Windows Registry is a registry that stores configuration information about many important parts of this operating system. By editing you can tune Windows to behave the way you want.How to use a windows registry and also some tricks perform on it:

STEPS:

* Type win+r to open run application launching window and then type regedit (then enter) to start the registry editing program. The registry editor should start.

POSSIBLE EDITS

Uninstall Programs Manually

* Just because Windows XP has the Add/Remove Programs feature it doesn't mean your application will appear in the list. Furthermore, even if it does appear, it's no guarantee that the uninstall feature will work. When you run across one of these situations the items listed below will help in getting rid of the application. Be aware that these steps may not remove everything associated with the application and can impact other applications on the computer. Have a backup or restore point and use caution.
* Find the directory for the application and delete all the files in the directory. Delete the directory.
* Open regedit and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE and find the folder for the application. Delete the folder.
* Open regedit and navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE and find the folder for the application. Delete the folder.
o To remove the application entry from Add/Remove Programs (if present), open regedit and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall and find the folder for the application. Delete the folder.
o Some applications have Services attached to them. If this is the case, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services, locate and delete the service.
* In Windows Explorer, navigate to the individual user settings and delete program references. Common places to check would be:
o C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs and delete relevant entries.
o C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup and delete relevant entries.
o C:\Documents and Settings\%YourUserID%\Start Menu\Programs and delete relevant entries. [Do this for each User ID listed]
o C:\Documents and Settings\%YourUserID%\Start Menu\Programs\Startup and delete relevant entries.[Do this for each User ID listed]
* If no entries were found in the previous step and the application launches automatically, navigate to

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows and delete the entry.

Move Location of History Folder

* By default, History files (the URL to sites that you have visited, organized by day) are stored at in the folder %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\History. You can redirect these files to any folder using the following Registry changes:
o Hive: HKEY_CURRENT_USER
o Key: Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\UserShellFolders
o Name: History
o Data Type: REG_SZ
o Value: path to new folder

Clear Pagefile on Shutdown

* When Windows shuts down, it leaves the pagefile intact on the hard drive. Some programs may store sensitive information in clear text format in memory (which in turn may be paged out to disk). You may wish to empty this file for security reasons, or to help speed a boot time defrag, or because you dual boot, and you don't want to share the file, or just as part of troubleshooting a problem. Making the following registry change (or create the following entry) will clear your page file when rebooting.
o Hive: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
o Key: SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory
o Management
o Name: ClearPageFileAtShutdown
o Data Type: REG_DWORD
o Value: 1

Disable Changing Passwords

* If, for some reason, you decided that you didn't want users of a Windows 2000 computer to be able to change their password unless prompted to, you can make this Registry change to implement that:
o Hive: HKEY_CURRENT_USER
o Key: Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
o Name: DisableChangePassword
o Data Type: REG_DWORD
o Value: 1
* A value of 0 means they can change their password whenever they want to. A value of 1 means that users will not be able to change their password unless prompted (by the password expiring, or by the box next to "User Must Change Password at Next Logon" being checked). Please use caution and frequent backups when working with the Registry.

Get Rid of Shared Documents

* New to Windows XP is a "Shared Documents" folder that appears in My Computer. This is really just a pointer to another area on disk. You can keep this from appearing by deleting the following Subkey from the Registry:
o Hive: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
o Key: SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\My
Computer\NameSpace\DelegateFolders
o Subkey: {59031a47-3f72- 44a7-89c5-5595fe6b30ee}
o Delete the whole Subkey and all that it contains.
* You may wish to right-click this Subkey and export it before deleting it, just to be safe. This also will prevent the current users "My Documents" from showing up in the same area of My Computer. Use caution and frequent backups when editing the Registry.

Shutdown XP Faster

* When a user shuts down Windows XP, first the system has to kill all services currently running. Every once in a while the service does not shut down instantly and windows give it a change to shut down on its own before it kills it. This amount of time that windows wait is stored in the system registry. If you modify this setting, then windows will kill the service earlier. To modify the setting, follow the directions below:
o Start Regedit.
o Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control.
o Click on the "Control" Folder.
o Select "WaitToKillServiceTimeout"
o Right click on it and select Modify.
o Set it a value lower than 2000 (Mine is set to 200).
o Or
o Like previous versions of windows, it takes long time to restart or shutdown windows
* xp when the "Exit Windows" sound is enabled. To solve this problem you must disable this useless sound. Click start button then go to settings -> control panel -> Sound, Speech and Audio devices -> Sounds and Audio Devices -> Sounds, then under program events and windows menu click on "Exit Windows" sub-menu and highlight it. Now from sounds you can select, choose "none" and then click apply and ok. Now you can see some improvements when shutting down your system.

Warnings

* Editing the registry can be very dangerous, and can cause permanent damage to your system!
* Write down the your changes and initial values. You may need to restore the registry as it was.
* Registry editing may not be possible in some Windows versions.
* A few words about clearing the pagefile on shutdown. Doing this has no performance benefits whatsoever. This does not delete the file but overwrites every byte with zero's. A boot time defrag will not be sped up by doing this. Clearing the pagefile is sometimes done as a security measure. But unless it is a part of a well thought out security policy it will avail you little. There are many other ways to obtain access to sensitive data and most of them require less effort. It should also be noted that this will considerably lengthen shutdown times.

Hi friends all of us have some confidential data which we can’t want to share with other people or our friends. So for hiding the data we uses some techniques. Here we create a invisible folder for hiding our data.

STEPS:

Right click on desktop>New>Folder
Rename it as “ALT + 0160”
You will notice that a blank space is used for naming the folder.
Now right click on folder>properties>Customize>change icon…
Choose a blank icon and click on OK.
Your invisible folder is ready to work.

If you want to make it more secure that no one can easily detect it then follow these steps: Right click on folder>properties>hidden
click on OK.
Now you can put any data or file in that folder and can protect them from your friends and they cant even get that folder until they don’t know what you have done.

* Firstly open your Konsole and become the root.
* Then give the path of the folder where your images are stored like:

The solution to this problem is as follows:

STEPS:

Boot up your PC.
Load windows in ADMINISTRATOR mode, a standard account (limited) will not work because you're modifying the system registry.
Open the Registry Editor. To do this press Windows-R (hold down Windows and press R) and enter (without the quotes) "regedit" and click OK.
In the left column in the Registry Editor, click on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, then SYSTEM, then CurrentControlSet, then Services, then i8042prt, then Parameters (for the geeks, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\i8042prt\Parameters).
Click Edit -> New -> DWORD Value or DWORD (32-bit) Value.
Call the new value (without the quotes) "CrashOnCtrlScroll".
Change the value to 1 (0x00000001)
Close the Registry Editor and restart your computer.
Hold down the right Control key then press the Scroll Lock key twice, then a blue screen should pop up.

For this,firstly go to "Run" and type "Regedit" and follow the path
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

Now in the right panel create a new "DWORD" item and name it NoDrives(it is case sensitive). Now modify it’s value and set it to 3FFFFFF (Hexadecimal) .Now restart your computer. So, now when you click on My Computer, no drives will be shown(all gone…). To enable display of drives in My Computer, simply delete this DWORD item that you created.Again restart your computer.You will now see all the drives again.

The rules for creating strong passwords are fairly well understood.

1. Use a minimum of eight characters; more characters are better, as long as you are comfortable remembering them and typing them.
2. Do not base the password on a dictionary word.
3. Use a variety of different types of characters;

HOW TO HACK THE WINRAR

Hi, today I post about how to crack the winrar. For doing this we need some tools such as Hacker’s Disassembler and Code Fusion. Here we removed “evaluation copy” which occurs on the top of winrar and registered it on our name.

Now for cracking the winrar firstly we use HDasm. Open it and find the find the winrar.exe file and open it on the HDasm.

Now when we disassembel winrar in it , the HDasm disassembel it into assembly language code.

Then we go for “References” and click on “String Reference”. This will open a popup window where we searches for “evaluation copy” and double click on it.

This will open another window behind the popup window. Now close the popup window and you that we reached at the position behind “evaluation copy”.

Now we go upward to the position “cmp byte ptr [004B41AC], oo”.

Now what we do, we can change the value of this cmp i.e. we should chane the value “803DAC414B0000” to “803DAC414B0001”. But we can’t change this value here for changing this value we need “Code Fusion”. By the help of Code Fusion we creates the patch who can change this value.

Open the Code Fusion.

Now press the Next button, this will open another popup window.

Now in the section “File to Patch” we press “Plus sign” and patch the “winrar.exe” file here and in the portion “Data to Patch” when we click on the “plus sign” it appear another popup window where many options occurs and we press the “Find and Replace” option.

Now when we press this button here occurs another popup window where in the option “Data Find” we paste the value “803DAC414B0000” in the “hex form” and in the portion “Data replace” we paste the value “803DAC414B0001” in the form of “hex” and at last in the “Method” option we replace it by “Replace All”.

Then press ok and we find the previous popup window and press Next button.

Now press “Make win32 Executable” and give the file name what you want like “sumit.exe”. This will create the patch sumit.exe and when we double click on it it will open a popup window where it shows “Target File” as “Winrar.exe”. Press Start button.

Now when we press the “Start” button it will creates another popup window “winrar file successfully patched”. Press ok

We successfully patched the winrar and the “evaluation copy” is removed from the top.

Now the next step is to registered it on our name. For this we creates a file name “rarreg.key” and inside it we gave our name. So open the notepad and write your name on it and save it on extension rarreg.key.

Now when we open the winrar and goes to the help option and the “about winrar” we saw that it is registered for us.

Hack administrator from Guest account in Window XP

Concept

Press shift key 5 times and the sticky key dialog shows up.This works even at the logon screen. But If we replace the sethc.exe which is responsible for the sticky key dialog,with cmd.exe, and then call sethc.exe by pressing shift key 5 times at logon screen,we will get a command prompt with administrator privilages because no user has logged on. From there we can hack the administrator password,even from a guest account.

Prerequisites

Guest account with write access to system 32.

Here is how to do that -

Go to C:/windows/system32
Copy cmd.exe and paste it on desktop
rename cmd.exe to sethc.exe
Copy the new sethc.exe to system 32,when windows asks for overwriting the file,then click yes.

Now Log out from your guest account and at the user select window,press shift key 5 times.
Instead of Sticky Key confirmation dialog,command prompt with full administrator privileges will open.

Now type “ NET USER ADMINISTRATOR aaa” where “aaa” can be any password you like and press enter.
You will see “ The Command completed successfully” and then exit the command prompt and login into administrator with your new password.
Congrats You have hacked admin from guest account.

Further..

Also, you can further create a new user at the command prompt by typing “NET USER SUMIT /ADD” where “SUMIT” is the username you would like to add with administrator privileges. Then hide your newly created admin account by -

Go to registry editor and navigate to this key
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\SpecialAccounts\UserList]
Here create a new DWORD value, write its name as the “user name” that u created for your admin account and live with your admin account forever :)

Primary mail address: If by some means a hacker came to know the password of your Yahoo mail or Gmail, which users normally keeps as their primary mail address in their Orkut account, then hacker can hack Orkut account by simply using USER ID and clicking on ‘forget password’. This way Google will send link to the already hacked primary email ID to change the password of the Orkut account. Hence the email hacker will change your Orkut account’s password. So a better thing would be to keep a very unknown or useless email ID of yours as primary email id so that if the hacker clicks on ‘Forgot password’ the password changing link goes to an unknown email id i.e. not known to the hacker. Hence your Orkut account saved.

A worm is spreading via Yahoo Instant Messenger Thursday that tricks people into downloading what they think is a photo from a friend but is instead malware that installs a backdoor on Windows systems and spreads to a victim's IM contacts.
The worm arrives via a message from a contact with the word "photo" or "photos" and a smiley face icon, along with a link to a Web site resembling a Facebook page, MySpace page, or some other page where photos might reside.
If the user clicks on the link on a Macintosh system, an executable file will be downloaded, but no further action will occur. On a Windows system, the executable will download and if the user runs the file, the computer will become infected and the malicious message will be distributed to all of the IM contacts.
Yahoo said in a blog post that it was aware of the issue and working to address it.
"We recently learned of an issue where some users have received spam messages from their contact list. Yahoo Messenger has quickly worked to resolve the situation," the post said. "As always, we recommend that any Yahoo Messenger user who receives a suspicious instant message with a link first IM their friend to ensure the message is legitimate before moving forward. Users should not download executable (.exe) files that are sent through Yahoo Messenger." Internet users should also keep their antivirus up to date, Yahoo recommended.
